Dr. Spencer Franz
Head Optometrist
Dr. Spencer Franz grew up in Idaho. He received his Bachelor’s degree in 2008 from Idaho State University and graduated with his Doctorate of Optometry degree from The Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Franz worked in Las Cruces, NM and Boise, ID. After diligently researching over 20 optometry offices for sale throughout the country, Dr. Franz quickly realized The Eye Site in Hobbs was superior to the rest. Dr. Franz and his family are excited to become part of the community and continue the legacy of excellent eye care provided by The Eye Site.
Dr. Franz has a special interest in diseases of the eye including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, keratoconus, conjunctivitis, retinal anomalies, cataracts, and pre-operative and post-operative eye care. Furthermore, he is highly trained in the diagnosis and management of systemic disease affecting the eyes including high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, and autoimmune diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue disorders, and lupus. Dr. Franz gained priceless knowledge and experience by working with some of the leading doctors in the field during his Doctorate externships at several well know and highly regarded eye care clinics including the Illinois Eye Institute, Chicago Glaucoma Consultants, Sidney Hillman VA Eye Clinic, and the Chicago Cornea Consultants. Dr. Franz also has extensive training within the pediatric population and has worked with children during crucial developmental years to ensure their best vision and ocular health.
Dr. Franz is married with two children and enjoys outdoor activities, sports, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Barton
Optometrist
Dr. Barton was born and raised in Peoria, Arizona. Before beginning college, he served a two-year mission for his church in South Carolina, where he learned to speak Spanish. Upon his return, he did his undergraduate work at Arizona State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences. Dr. Barton went on to earn a doctorate degree in optometry from Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Optometry and graduated with clinic honors in primary eye care and contact lenses.
Dr. Barton completed extensive training at many respectable internships including Camelback Eye Care, Horizon Eye Specialists, Fort Defiance Indian Hospital, and Midwestern University Eye Institute. He also completed an ocular disease residency at Tsehootsooi Medical Center on the Navajo Nation and is passionate about treatment and management of eye diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetes.
He constantly strives to continue his education and keep up with the newest developments in eye care. He believes in using the latest technology and techniques to provide patient care at the highest level. Dr. Barton enjoys serving his patients and giving them an eye care experience of professionalism, respect, and kindness. Whether it is his patients, his family, or his community, Dr. Barton loves to help people. Dr. Barton and his wife have been married for eleven years and they have five children. They enjoy music, movies, the outdoors, and spending time together.
